Parish Financial Administrator Job Description

Hours: 10 hours per week

Typical work days: Wednesday and Thursday

 

In all areas, the Parish Financial Administrator should:

  • Be mindful that the primary purpose of this position is to support the ministry of the church

  • Provide needed support to the pastors, staff, committees and congregational leadership

  • Respond as part of a team to ensure special events get carried out (e.g. weddings, funerals, or celebrations)

 

Specifically, the Parish Financial Administrator is responsible for the following areas:

  • In cooperation with the pastor, treasurer and Parish Administrator, prepare the annual Parish Report to the SC Synod for timely submission

  • Provide Administrative support

  • Reply promptly to all email and voicemail messages received by the parish

  • Update the church sign weekly

  • Update the social media pages as needed

  • Process accounts payables and prepare checks for payment

  • Prepare monthly financial reports

  • Provide reports as requested from church database and Church Windows

  • Walk through building, grounds and cemetery weekly to assess damage or areas needing repair; refer items needing attention to property committee

  • Work with the groundskeeper, sexton and other contracted services for the buildings and grounds

  • Issue and track all keys to the building

  • Schedule and oversee building usage (includes calendaring of meeting locations)

  • Work with all external groups that rent the Church Building.  Ensure that all groups that use the facilities are in compliance with church policies.

  • Publish weekly building usage calendar for the week

  • Maintain the parish calendar

  • Prepare and publish monthly Manger newsletter

  • Ensure items received weekly are filed appropriately

  • Be able to fulfill responsibilities of the Parish Administrator as required to help fulfill Emmanuel's mission and ministry

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

 

Skills necessary to do this job:

  • Be hospitable and welcoming to all who interact with this position

  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality

  • Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn new things

  • Efficient use of computer systems, software, and technology

  • Responsible use of church resources (e.g. credit card and keys)

  • Independent transportation for the running of errands (mileage to be reimbursed at the IRS rate)

  • Excellent grammar and proofing skills

 

From time to time, it may be necessary to change your work days to provide coverage for the church office.  These changes will be coordinated in advance.

 

Travel expenses for necessary errands will be reimbursed at the IRS rate.

 

A criminal background check will be performed at the church's expense as a condition of employment.

 

Performance reviews will be conducted annually.

 

This job will be paid hourly at the rate of $14.21
